More than 50,000 visitors of the Dubai Mall have signed on the bodywork of the prototype vehicle displayed in support for safe driving campaign launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The campaign, which comes as part of the RTA's efforts to provide quality awareness to urge motorists to avoid over-speeding, displayed a prototype of a vehicle in a practical representation of the risks incurred by vehicles exceeding the speed of 100 kilometres per hour.
The Director of RTA Marketing and Corporate Communication, Moaza Al Marri, said, "The campaign displays for the first time a model of a virtual vehicle so that motorists can perceive the fate of a vehicle driven beyond the speed of 100 kilometres per hour, rendering it difficult to control in case any roadway obstacles or surprises are encountered.
"The campaign received an overwhelming response where more than 50,000 visitors of the Dubai Mall have signed on the bodywork of the prototype vehicle, thus optionally pledging to avoid over-speeding in response to RTA's call during the campaign. Each signature contributes to curtailing reckless over-speeding, which ensures safe roads and contributes to safeguarding the lives of motorists and road users, especially in the light of the alarming increase in traffic accidents caused by excessive speed,” added Al Marri.
