Soon, visitors at Dubai's three police stations will not have to hunt for vacant parking spaces. The Dubai Police chief has announced that customers visiting the Naif, Rafaa and Al Muraqqabat police stations can soon enjoy smart parking service.
Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, has ordered the provision of smart parking service to bring happiness for customers visiting these police stations.
Brigadier-General Naim Al Khatib, director of revenue and fund department, pointed out that the smart parking system will be a multi-storey parking space where customers can leave their vehicles. The vehicle will be lifted to the vacant parking spot automatically without any human intervention. When the customer returns, he can easily recall the vehicle in the same way.
He said that the implementation of smart services is part of Dubai Police's strategic plan 2016-2021, which aims at encouraging customers and keeping pace with government trends in introducing smart services and innovation.
Brigadier-General Al Khatib confirmed that the Dubai Police will implement the smart parking initially in three police stations, considering the lack of adequate parking space in these areas.
"The police are currently studying appropriate models of parking according to the requirements of each police station based on its geographical location and the demand by the customers. The police are also considering providing smart parking in the car reservation network, in addition to providing dedicated parking spaces for Dubai Police Academy students," he said.
He confirmed that the police will provide a smart application within the Dubai Police application for smart parking. However, there will be a small fee for the service which will be determined later.
