Toyota Motor Corporation has launched a project in which the company employees will assess vehicles, engaging in long distance driving in the extreme road and climate conditions of Australia.
They will gauge vehicle specification plans for future models and provide a training opportunity over vast distances in Australia, which is said to have every type of road in the world.
More than 30 Toyota employees will take on the rough and the tough in Toyota Land Cruisers, Hilux, 86, Prius, Camry, Corolla and other models for a period of more than 10 weeks to mid-November.
They will report their experiences to other Toyota employees the world over.
Toyota’s commitment to quality is shown in the fact that each Toyota model travels two and a half times around the world (minimum 100,000 km) or 14 times around Saudi Arabia before it goes into mass production.
The Toyota vehicle testing programme recreates global temperatures and geographical conditions to ensure that Toyota performs at its best, to fit the conditions in each market.
All Toyota models are tested under conditions that recreate the intense heat of Saudi Arabia, a company statement said.
Toyota vehicles are exposed to external temperatures of 50-degrees centigrade, road surface temperatures of 75 degrees centigrade, and internal temperatures of 80-degrees centigrade to confirm the effects on the vehicle, its components and materials, it added.
