The new BMW 7 Series is priced from £58,115 for the entry-level 730d SE, rising to £104,050 for the 760i M Sport. On the outside, the 7 Series has received a subtle styling update with optional LED headlights, a new grille and a reshaped front bumper. The interior boasts a range of improvements that include new front seats, greater sound-proofing and a 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen stereo. There is also an optional 10-inch screen that replaces the traditional instrument dials, which changes colour depending on which driving mode is selected – Eco Pro, Comfort or Sport. All models come as standard with BMW's eight-speed automatic gearbox, and all except the 760Li, feature stop/start. The updated engine range is now much more efficient and also offers greater performance. The range includes the 760i, 750i and 740i petrols plus the 740d and 730d diesels. BMW also offers one petrol-hybrid, called the ActiveHybrid. The 3.0-litre 730d is the most fuel-efficient model in the line-up, capable of 50.4mpg and producing emissions of 148g/km. The ActiveHybrid7 returns 41.5mpg with emissions of 158g/km. The 750i uses a 449bhp 4.4-litre petrol engine, and is capable of 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds. It boasts a 25 per cent improvement in efficiency over the previous model, capable of 32.8mpg and with emissions of 199g/km. All 7 Series models have an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. The new model will go on sale in the UK on 22 September.
