Following the hugely successful Copa editions of the Leon hatchback, SEAT is extending the great value trim level to the Altea and Altea XL ranges. Depending on edition, Copa specification gives buyers equipment worth between £1,100 and £1,500 absolutely free of charge. Two trim levels come to market: S Copa and SE Copa. Based on standard S and SE specifications respectively, their introduction also brings about a simplification of the Altea line-up: ‘S Emocion’ trim has been deleted from the range, along with the 1.4 85 PS and 1.4 TSI 125 PS petrol engines. What remain are the most appealing Altea and Altea XL ranges ever offered. Both comprise S, S Copa, SE and SE Copa trims, and three engines: 1.2 TSI 105 PS, 1.6 TDI 105 PS, and 2.0 TDI 140 PS. DSG automatic is available as an option on either of the diesel engines. Not only does this give buyers a simpler but far better equipped model range to choose from, it also means that every Altea comes with parsimony included. The lowest emitting model, the 1.6 TDI 105 PS Ecomotive, returns 62.8mpg combined and 119g/km CO2 emissions, putting it into VED Band C and giving it a BIK rating of just 17%. (See table below for full details.) The specific equipment highlights of the S Copa and SE Copa editions are as follows: S Copa In addition to the standard S specification, S Copa adds 16-inch ‘Elio’ alloy wheels; a Bluetooth communication package including hands-free phone connection, steering wheel-mounted controls and two additional stereo speakers; dual-zone climate control; front fog lights with cornering function; cruise control; passenger seat height adjustment. In total, that equipment has a recommended retail price of approximately £1,500, and it comes at no extra cost. SE Copa The already well-specified SE trim level is joined by the hugely impressive SEAT Media System 2.2 in SE Copa versions of the Altea and Altea XL. SEAT Media 2.2 incorporates satellite navigation, an SD card reader for music playback, a DAB digital radio tuner, Bluetooth hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, and a multi-function driver’s display, all controlled via a five-inch colour touch screen. Also added is a package that includes rear parking sensors, automatic windscreen wipers and lights, and an auto-dimming rear view mirror, bringing the total value of this additional specification to around £1,100. “The Copa editions of the Altea and Altea XL really are no-brainers for the customer. After all, who doesn’t like to get something for nothing?” said SEAT UK Product Manager James Buckell. “But we haven’t just added lots of equipment to the cars for the sake of it. Instead, we’ve listened to what our buyers really want and only added equipment that’s of real use and value. “It’s for that same reason that we’ve simplified the range, giving customers a clear choice, with great value and low running costs assured on every model,” he added. The SEAT Altea boasts striking hatchback looks but offers higher than average headroom, meaning a capacious interior and excellent versatility. Its driving position is slightly raised compared to a typical family hatchback, providing great visibility while the car retains the engaging driving dynamics that SEAT is famed for. The Altea XL goes a step further, boosting the 409-litre boot space of the Altea by 123 litres, resulting in a cavernous 532-litre cargo area and helping make it the perfect MPV for families that need great looks with their great space.
