Finally, after years in the making, the next-gen NSX is on its way flanked by a new sedan and redesigned crossover. Acura has announced that three new vehicles, namely the concept for the NSX supercar, as well as a luxury compact sedan dubbed the ILX Concept and a redesigned RDX crossover, will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show.The NSX concept wil take center stage as it attempts to do battle with the Audi R8. A rumored 3.5- or 3.7-liter V6 hybrid powerplant will be at its heart, featuring two electric motors under an aluminum body, sending power to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.The exterior should be influenced by the concept that will appear in Ironman 3 and it's alleged that the car has already been approved for 2013 productionBased on the 2012 Honda Civic, the Acura ILX Concept will preview a new compact luxury sedan set to launch in the spring, featuring three powertrains, including the first-ever gas-electric hybrid with a 1.5-liter engine producing 95hp via a CVT transmission as well as 2.0- and 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engines with automatic gearboxes. Competing in the same class as the new Mercedes A-Class, Lexus CT200h and BMW 1 Series, the front-wheel drive will be priced south of the $30k mark. The 2013 5-passenger RDX CUV will also be revealed. Receiving a V6 engine, it's underpinned by the also new Honda CR-V and will be more efficient and powerful than the 240hp 2.3-liter turbo 4-cylinder the current RDX houses.Jeff Conrad, vice president and general manager of Acura sales and service said: "Acura vehicles are being created for luxury customers who aspire to the highest levels of quality and value, with beautiful styling and the right balance of technology, performance and environmental responsibility."
