A targa-roofed variant of the Venom GT supercar is now being offered - for a price. Bettering Hennessey's flagship 1200hp Venom GT hypercar was never going to be easy, but by offering the ultra-lightweight supercar with an easily-removable roof, Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has pulled it off.Driven without the top, the mid-engine monster dubbed the Venom GT Spyder will offer an added layer of decibels to the raucous soundtrack. According to company CEO Don Goldman: "With the hardtop in place, the Venom GT offers a very visceral, raw, driving experience. "With the hardtop removed, the wind and the growl of the twin turbo V8 will offer our clients an even greater driving sensation."The engine under discussion is a modified twin-turbo 6.2-liter LS9 V8 from the Chevy Corvette ZR1, producing 1200hp and 1155lb-ft of torque. At a mere 1200kg, company founder John Hennessey believes the Venom GT has the potential to hit 275mph, which would make it the fastest car in the world."We are excited to be able to offer an open-air American supercar, built in Texas, that provides the best power to weight ratio available on the market. "Simply put, the Venom GT Spyder is defined by its simplicity, elegance, performance and - for a lucky few - a driving experience like nothing else on Earth."Only five 2013MY Coupe or Spyder vehicles are planned, with deliveries commencing in the summer of 2012; two have already been spoken for. $950,000 will get you the fixed-roof hardtop, while a cool $1.1 million is being asked for the GT Spyder.
