Just minutes after the Dodge Dart made its debut at the Detroit auto show, Mopar started bolting on parts. Chrysler's parts arm already has 150 aftermarket items ready for the company's new small car, with more on the way. “By itself, our new Dodge Dart will stand out from the crowd,” said Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group's service, parts and customer-care brand. “But for those who want even more customization and personalization, Mopar is offering more than 150 quality-tested accessories and performance parts.” Mopar will be trying out a few firsts for the compact-car segment, including wireless charging, Wi-Fi and electronic vehicle tracking. The wireless charging function will allow drivers to set their devices in a charging zone and charge without wires. Energy is transferred from the charging pad to the device battery using a compatible device-specific case. Wireless connectivity will be offered, which will allow users to access the Internet up to about 150 feet from the vehicle. An in-vehicle router receives 3G broadband Internet that works with any Wi-Fi-enabled device. A subscription will be sold separately. The Mopar-enhanced Dart will have vehicle tracking powered by Guidepoint Systems. Mopar will offer the service without subscription. A host of other accessories will be available, including: -- Performance-styled hood: Carbon-fiber scooped hood, designed to give the vehicle an aggressive and sporty appearance. -- Performance braking upgrade: Upgraded calipers, rotors and performance pads provide increased braking power. -- Unique grille: Chrome aluminum grille replaces the production grille below the bumper to provide a unique appearance. -- Grille cross-hatch insert: Carbon-fiber-style finish, attaches to Dodge cross hatch over grille area, perfect for enhancing the “tuner” image. -- 18-inch wheels: Unique Mopar design, polished spokes and black-painted pockets. -- Rear-air diffuser: Matte black, attaches to rear fascia to provide a unique look to the rear of the vehicle, designed to coordinate with chin spoiler. -- Front fascia appliqué: Chrome-plated appliqué slides over front/center bumper area to provide a bright front-end appearance. -- Chin spoiler: Matte black, attaches to front fascia to give more aggressive look to the front end. -- Side sills: Matte black, attach to side rocker panels to provide a sportier appearance.
