Rüsselsheim - Arab Today

Opel is sending a team of young engineers to the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) to promote the brand’s fascinating technologies. The nine engineers come from areas as diverse as transmission and engine development on the one hand, to quality assurance on the other. From September 12 through 22, they will work alongside the staff on the stand to explain to visitors the technological highlights of Opel’s cars. They will use cut-away models, for example, to show what makes Opel-engines so efficient. Wanted: Interaction with show visitors Opel will present several innovations at the IAA, including its new, all-aluminum, 1.0-liter engine. The 85kW/115 hp, 1.0-liter turbo power unit, which is making its world premiere at Frankfurt, raises the bar for refinement on three-cylinder engines. It is the first member of a new modular family of three and four-cylinder, direct-injection, gasoline engines of less than 1.6 liters displacement. The new 1.6-liter gasoline and diesel turbo engines will also be on display. The engineers will answer questions on technologies and abbreviations such as SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection), variable valve control or lightweight engine design. Another highlight and premiere is the new-generation infotainment system, which becomes available in the Insignia this fall, and has already received many positive reviews from the automotive press. The most important characteristics of the system include large displays, only a few buttons, and innovative connectivity features. For the team of Opel engineers the conversations with motor show visitors are of central importance. „Our goal is to inform customers and potential buyers about our innovations and explain the technologies in a very understandable way”, says powertrain engineer, Alexander Dau. „Getting feedback on our products is just as important as receiving criticism and comments or specific requests. The new-generation infotainment system is a good example of this, since feedback from media and customers flowed into its development.” Source: Opel
