The new Opel Vivaro is coming – more practical, more efficient and more appealing than ever before. The second generation combines the functionality of a light commercial vehicle and the benefits of an office on wheels with the comfort and design appeal of a passenger car. Its predecessor is already a popular and enduring player in the European light commercial vehicle market, with almost 600,000 units built since its market launch in 2001. With around 50,000 vehicles sold per year, the Vivaro currently accounts for around ten percent of sales in its segment (Van D), making it the top performer in Opel’s LCV portfolio. Now the new, second generation Vivaro, coming to market this summer, is set to continue building on this success. It has everything it takes to succeed: its diverse variants are now longer, enabling increased load capacity, and its cabin features state-of-the-art IntelliLink infotainment technology with user-friendly navigation, as well as equipment details which quickly and easily transform it into a mobile office. The new Vivaro is also extremely economical: under its hood are all-new turbo diesel engines which offer reduced fuel consumption as low as 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers, with CO2 emissions down to 149 g/km – best-in-class values that also impact favorably on owners’ wallets as well as the environment. “The Vivaro is in a fiercely competitive market, and today’s customers require more from a light commercial vehicle than ever before,” says Peter Christian Küspert, Opel Board Member and GME Vice President Sales & Aftersales“The vehicle must be extremely versatile and act as a mobile business card while also being able to operate as a private people carrier. The new Opel Vivaro range offers the perfect solution to all these needs. It is an important part of our large product offensive and will considerably strengthen our position in the light commercial vehicle segment.” Two diesels, four output levels: Newest turbo technology for the Vivaro Advanced propulsion technology makes the new Vivaro an economical and powerful all-purpose van. Two all-new turbo diesels, offering a choice of four output levels, ensure fast acceleration even when the Vivaro is fully loaded. The engine portfolio comprises a 1.6 CDTI with 66 kW/90 hp and 85 kW/115 hp, as well as the sophisticated 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI with sequential turbocharging and a twin-cooler system giving 88 kW/120 hp and 103 kW/140 hp. Featuring twin turbochargers, this engine combines excellent performance with high fuel economy. The new turbo diesel units’ fuel consumption decreases in the combined cycle by over one liter, with the BiTurbo’s dipping to as low as 5.7 liters per 100 km with 149 g/km CO2 emissions (preliminary data). This gives Opel’s new all-purpose van best-in-class economy. And for those who want even more, a special ‘eco’ driving mode can be activated to deliver still greater fuel savings. The new Vivaro also provides plenty of power. From just 1,500 rpm, the 88 kW/120 hp BiTurbo generates impressive maximum torque of 320 Nm, while the 103 kW/140 hp variant delivers 340 Nm. With sophisticated chassis control systems and numerous safety functions, the new Vivaro puts its power and performance solidly on the road. In addition to ABS, including Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), the driver is supported by Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Hill Start Assistant (HSA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Traction Control (TC) and Roll Over Mitigation. Modern assistance systems make driving the new Vivaro even safer and more relaxed. It is available with a combined cruise control and speed limiter, as well as a Park Pilot which helps the driver reverse into a parking space. The driver also has access to an optimum rear overview with the addition of a rear-view camera, while another practical and safety-related feature is the large convex mirror in the passenger sun visor. It can be tilted to a position which enables the driver to see into the ‘blind spot’ area, while also offering better all-round visibility. Modern mobile workspace: New Vivaro with lots of space and practical details Flexible, multi-purpose and well-equipped – the new Opel Vivaro can be configured to meet just about every LCV need. It continues its predecessor’s successful concept of diverse variants and is available as a panel van, Combi, crew van or platform cab, in various configurations including two body lengths (L1: 4,998 / L2: 5,398 mm) and two roof heights. The new Vivaro is even better equipped to carry loads than its predecessor, as both body lengths are 216 millimeters longer than before. This adds 100 mm to the cargo bay in both vehicle lengths for 2,500 mm (L1) and 2,900 mm (L2), giving sufficient space to carry three Euro palettes stacked next to one another. Total load volume for the panel van is also increased, ranging from 5.2 to 8.6 m3. Easy access to the cargo bay is provided by the rear doors. To transport especially long items, the right-hand door can be fixed open at a 90° angle while the other door is closed independently. Hatches in the front passenger seat and cabin bulkhead also provide an extended load-through option. Alternatively, in the Combi variant with a sliding side door, eight passengers can comfortably travel in three rows of seats. The cockpit in the new Vivaro is designed to provide a modern, mobile workspace. Customers can choose comfort seats with lumbar support that are adjustable for both length and height. All key functions in the cockpit are now positioned in line of sight and within optimal reach, ensuring exemplary ergonomics. These include practical details such as the center front seat, which can be quickly and easily transformed into a small desk to hold a laptop. Work or other everyday items can be stowed in spaces above the infotainment system on the center console, or in a drawer under the front passenger seat with 42 liters of storage volume. The Vivaro now offers optimum onboard connectivity via Opel’s IntelliLink infotainment system, which includes a 7-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, audio streaming and advanced navigation functions with maps that can be simply updated by USB download. Equipment features such as automatic climate control and a Keyless Open & Start system increase cabin comfort and ease of use. Simply unmistakable: New Vivaro is robust and elegant Practical and comfortable inside, robust and elegant outside: the all-new Vivaro brings Opel’s award-winning design philosophy ‘sculptural artistry meets German precision’ to the light commercial vehicle segment for the first time. So for enhanced design appeal alone, it promises to attract new customer groups. The exterior is even more elegant and contemporary, with a large, prominent grille, distinctive headlamps and a flowing ‘blade’ side motif from Opel’s multi-award-winning design language. The Daytime Running Lights come in a signature Opel ‘wing’ graphic and are available with crisp LED technology, giving the Vivaro an unmistakable look. With its clean and practical rear design, the Vivaro clearly communicates the robustness that customers demand from a van during everyday use. Vivaro customers can choose between three equipment/trim variants as well as 11 body colors. Right from market launch, further specific colors will be available for special-use vehicles, ensuring the new Vivaro comes in an outfit that’s perfect for every business and commercial need.
