As long as there are buyers, the 'four-door coupe' segment will just keep expanding. The Volkswagen CC has been a very successful model for the German automaker in both Europe and North America alike. The reason being? Not only is it based off the previous generation Passat, but it's also a huge improvement styling-wise over that car.Think of the CC as the poor man's Mercedes-Benz CLS/Audi A7/BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe. And now Volkswagen apparently wants to continue with their 'four-door coupe' success with the smaller Jetta. According to a report from AutoWeek, VW is planning to launch a junior CC, internally known as the SC. The model was given the green light for production following the Jetta NCC (New Coupe Concept) at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. The SC will be competing against the upcoming the Mercedes-Benz CLC (which is a junior CLS) and even the soon to be launched Audi A3 sedan (interesting because this also built by the VW Group). If development continues as planned, expect for the SC to go on sale for the 2015 model year.
