Amman - Arabstoday

The Jordan Press Association (JPA) board has decided to continue to support news websites in their campaign against the amended 2012 Press and Publications Law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The JPA will be consulting with lawyers on the possibility of filing a lawsuit before the Constitutional Court to contest the constitutionality of the amended law, according to Petra. Over 400 local news websites will be forced to abide by the regulations of this law and the Press and Publications Department will have the right to shut down any website that does not obtain a licence. Licensed publications can only be shut down by a court order.
