Middle East News Agency Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Ali Hassan asserted the depth of relations binding Egypt and Kuwait, voicing hope over buttressing the existing cooperation between MENA and Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) in the service of Arab media.
This came following Hassan's meeting with KUNA Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah who paid a visit to MENA premises earlier in the day.
During the meeting, Hassan asserted that MENA was keen on pushing forward joint cooperation in the service of Arab media as the two agencies are having a long history in the media field.
MENA chairman also explained that cooperation domains include exchanging expertise, news items, training courses among youths in both sides as well as other media services.
He also said MENA and KUNA has been exchanging their media expertise since the 1960th and MENA has a permanent office in the city of Kuwait.
On his part, KUNA chairman asserted that Egypt has been a great supporter of Kuwait all over its history, noting that he met with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who asserted that the security of the Gulf region is a red line that should not be transgressed.
He voiced readiness over buttressing cooperation between the two agencies, noting that KUNA has a distinguished media training centre that could receive trainees from MENA as part of the interaction between the two media bodies. He also noted that the coming meeting of the Arab News Agencies Union, currently chaired by KUNA chairman, will be held in Bahrain in August as Manama will assume the presidency of the union.
He said MENA membership in the Arab News Agencies Union is still effective.
KUNA top official also praised the role of former MENA chairman Abdallah Hassan who has established good and friendly relations with heads of the Arab news agencies. MENA former chairman, for his part, extended thanks to Sheikh Mubarak for his appreciation and asserted that MENA would be keen on restoring its position in the Arab News Agencies Union and furthering enhancing its role in the service of Arab issues in view of the current challenges facing the Arab national security
