Culture Minister Helmi el Namnam attended on Sunday evening a ceremony organized by the Syndicate of Journalists to mark its diamond jubilee.
The ceremony was attended by the ministers of youth and sports, social solidarity, supply and finance, in addition to the presidential adviser for religious affairs.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said "we celebrate the diamond jubilee of the journalists' syndicate that was founded by efforts of successive generations of journalists."
During World War II, the ministers of finance and interior, with the approval of King Farouk, agreed on the syndicate's establishment, the minister said, adding a royal decree was issued to establish it.
The syndicate was opened in 1906.
