Discovery Networks Latin America & US Hispanic has embarked upon a major programme to produce significantly.According to Michela Giorelli, the executive in charge of managing the company's original audiovisual productions in its Latin American and US Hispanic networks, the company has embarked upon a rigorous search and evolution with regard to original productions in Latin America through the region's independent production companies. "We are producing more ideas in Latin America, with production companies that have the potential to develop high quality projects. Discovery doesn't have the infrastructure to produce, therefore we are always in the search for independent production companies who want to team up with discovery," she said. The company is also looking across the region for companies to produce series in both Spanish and Portuguese. It also guarantees that what it produces locally will be equal to the US productions in terms of quality. As examples of local production, Giorelli's division in Argentina produced Discovery Kids' first major live action program: 'Veloz Mente', a game show for pre-school kids, produced with RGB. 'It was a huge success in terms of ratings and we are actually already pre-producing its second season," she added. In addition, one of the most ambitious projects the company undertook was the science and technology series '2111' for the Discovery Channel.
