Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said that media outlets play a pivotal role in supporting the country's development efforts, pointing out that the government respects freedom of the press.
Ismail's statements came during his meeting with chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Makram Mohamed Ahmed, Head of the National Press Authority Karam Gabr, Head of the National Media Authority Hussein Zein, as well as Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform Hala el Saed.
Ismail lauded the efforts made to establish a code of honor that regulates media reporting, saying that he will hold regular meetings with media officials to review the issues and proposals related to that sector.
He also stressed the government's keenness to support press institutions and media outlets.
The meeting reviewed the financial and administrative development plan for press and media institutions.
