Emirati director Nahla al-Fahad was announced winner of the L'Officiel Award for Arab Women in media. The winners were announced on May 23 at a glittering ceremony attended by over 400 females at The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi. A celebration of achievements, the L’Officiel Arab Woman Awards commemorated Arab women’s accomplishments in the fields of business, arts, charity, fashion and philanthropy. Pleased to have received the award, Nahla said: "I feel honoured to be awarded amongst such remarkable women, it is great to feel that my efforts and eagerness to achieve success are recognised. This award is dedicated to all the people who supported me, first and foremost my parents, who trusted me and always helped me with their valuable advice. I'm grateful for them and wish them the best." Nehal added that she was delighted to hear complimentary words from an Emirati businesswoman who told her she was a good role model for the young generations of Arab women. "I was very happy to hear her words of encouragement. I appreciate her trust and sweet compliments, her words have encouraged me to think more about my future, and how to use my success to motivate younger women who aim to contribute to their society." Nahla had earlier travelled to the USA upon an invitation from the US embassy in Abu Dhabi, to be a member of an Arab delegation which visited the main movie and media institutions and studios in the USA, including; Universal Studios, and the Oscar Academy in Los Angeles, and the Lincoln Center in New York. She was handed two certificates by the US embassy, first for her remarkable work, which qualified her to be chosen for the delegation, and the second for her effective participation in this delegation. Nahla has directed music videos for some remarkable Arab singers, such as: Mohammed Abdo, Abu Bakr Salem, Rashed al-Majid, Abdulmajid Abdullah, Diana Haddad, Latifa, Abdullah al-Ruwaishid, Aida al-Menhali, Abdulmoneim al-Amri, Fayez al-Saeed, Khaled Abdulrahman and others.
