The journalist Habi Baby, arrested at his home by armed men on 12 June for the second time in a month, was released without charge on 20 June. He spent three days in the offices of State Security, the Malian government’s intelligence agency, before being transferred to the Judicial Investigative Brigade for questioning. The journalist, who is editor of the weekly Caravane, wrote in detail about his earlier arrest in the newspaper Aujourd’hui la résistance, and also condemned the conditions in which prisoners are held in State Security jails. It was this article that led to his second arrest. RWB .
