Acting Speaker of the National Assembly Mubarak Al-Khurainj on Thursday regretted the accusations leveled against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Khanim against the backdrop of the withdrawal of the license of a local daily.
"It's unacceptable for anybody whether under dome of Abdullah Al-Salem (parliament) hall or elsewhere to make any offending comments or level ungrounded accusations against other citizens or state officials," he told reporters.
Reaffirming trust in the integrity of the judiciary, Al-Khurainj called on anybody who might have documents or evidence for their accusations in this regard to present them to the Public Prosecution.
He urged drawing a line between objective criticism, which is most welcome as a basic feature of democracy, and groundless slander which stems from personal stances.
