Chairman of the Syndicate of Journalists Yehia Qalash announced launching a professional code of conduct for the media.
During a meeting of representatives of the visual and audio media, the press and media institutions on Sunday, Qalash said the code of conduct respects the Egyptian constitution and the struggle of the Egyptian people during the January and June revolutions.
It reiterates commitment to facts and dependence on trusted sources, while overcoming misleading news or flavoring news with personal opinions, he said.
The media code of conduct also calls for preventing media altercations and bans the spread of all forms of hatred and incitement and the promotion of charlatanism, Qalash added.
It also bans the receipt of gifts from public or government figures, he said.
