A delegation from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, FANR, represented by the Government Communication Department at the Authority, was briefed on the efforts and objectives of the Security Media Department at the Security Support Directorate General at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior in keeping up with events and in the area of government communication.
Speaking on the occasion, Major Fawaz Ali Abdullah, Director of the Security Media Department, said, "The Security Media Department is the governmental communication arm for the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police. It is entrusted with the task of delivering the media discourse of the Ministry as quickly and objectively as possible so as to communicate the necessary requirements needed to enhance the sense of security and public safety. It also strives to promote positive behavior and patriotic spirit, with a view to activate community partnership and other community-based and humanitarian objectives."
Major Fawaz Ali Abdullah welcomed the visiting FANR delegation, which was organised within the framework of exchanging institutional information and knowledge in order to maintain unified and consistent in government messages. He stressed the importance of investing and developing institutional relations through mutual visits throughout the year to ensure streamlined and circulated information amongst the units of governmental communication within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Captain Ali Abdul Karim Al Marzouqui, Head of the Strategic Planning Section in the Security Media Department, explained that the Ministry’s strategy aims to employ a balance of effective and comprehensive traditional communication tools and channels alongside modern and interactive tools to deliver the Ministry’s media messages. He also noted that the department endeavours to improve and develop the capabilities and skills of the government communication team within the framework of a strategic plan by organising introductory workshops for the various units at the MoI in order to boost their awareness regarding the valuable role of government communication.
The visiting FANR delegation, headed by Shaikha Al Muhairi, Acting Head of the Government Communication Department at the Authority and Rashid Al Falahi, Acting Chief of the Governmental Affairs Section, gave a presentation on the authority’s government communication strategy and its organisational structure. The presentation also included FANR’s vision to ensure safety and security through the provision of peacefully using nuclear energy and ionising radiation within the country through the development of regulations in accordance with international standards and implementation of its supervision.
