The parliament initially agreed on a draft law to establish a syndicate for media men.
The draft law aims at protecting the profession of media personnel so that they can deliver their messages under a syndicate umbrella, Head of the committee of culture, media and antiquities Ossama Heikal said.
The draft law includes articles on the specialties of the syndicate and protecting the rights of media personnel to have intellectual property inside and outside Egypt.
The draft law stipulates that the syndicate member should be a highly-educated Egyptian.
It also includes articles on the commitment of media personnel to work according to the media code of ethics.
