Police chief Lt. Gen. Hussein Majali stressed that the soft approach is only limited to deal with peaceful movements in Jordan. During a press conference held on Thursday at the PSD headquarters on ”Kamaliyah operation”, Majali affirmed that the Public Security Department PSD’s main concern is to ensure the safety and security of citizens. We received intelligence information that a group of armed men had taken a building in Hashemi Shamali as their headquarters and were guarding the building and had installed security cameras”, the PSD Director General said. “We sent a force to that building, but it was empty. We then received information that the men were visiting someone in the Kamaliyah suburb we decided to raid the building,” the police chief explained. “We had to act quickly to arrest this evil gang”, Majali said, adding that a joint team from the Jordan Armed Forces, the PSD and the Gendarmerie Department took part in the operation, during which between 7,000 to 7,500 bullets were used. ”A member of the group died, four were injured, and four were arrested”, Majali said. He added that two other men escaped from the scene, one of them turned himself in on Thursday and the other will be arrested.
