Information Affairs Minister Isa Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi underscored today the need for concerted efforts to ensure a high level of professionalism, responsibility and transparency in media work.
He was speaking as he inaugurated today the Information Ministry's Media Majlis (MM), in the presence of Health Minister Sadaq Abdulkarim Al-Shehabi, Editors-in-Chief, columnists as well as officials from the Health Ministry and the Information Affairs Authority (IAA). The move is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister to follow an open-door policy and keep the public updated.
The Information Minister lauded the key role played by the press in enlightening the public opinion and spotlighting citizens' issues. He underlined the importance of periodic meetings of journalists with officials to answer queries.
The Health Minister thanked the Information Affairs Minister for providing the opportunity to meet media persons and journalists and discuss various issues, commending the role of the press in Bahrain's development process.
The Health Minister reviewed issues pertaining mainly to providing healthcare for citizens and the expatriate workforce. A thorough discussion was also held on the efforts made to optmise health services for citizens.
