Sharjah Media Centre, the official media entity of the Government of Sharjah functioning under the umbrella of Sharjah Media Corporation, will host tomorrow Ramadan Majlis under the patronage of Shaikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation. The Ramadan tent will be erected adjacent to the Palace of Culture in Sharjah, and run throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan. The Majlis aims to draw the participation of senior clerics and intellectuals, in addition to local, regional and international media professionals. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi said: ‘The Holy Month of Ramadan calls for heightened religious sentiment and solidarity across the community, which together elevate human beings. The Sharjah Media Centre Ramadan Majlis aims to enhance media and social communication.’ He pointed out that Sharjah Media Centre aims to focus on topics that reflect the spirit of the Holy Month. Additionally, the Majlis, will host influential clerics and thought leaders, as well as media representatives who will highlight issues that carry a cultural, scientific and humanitarian significance for the UAE. The event will also look into health, environment and media topics, besides examining the scope of voluntary work in Sharjah and compare the status of Muslim communities in the UAE and Europe. The first Sharjah Media Centre Ramadan Majlis will spotlight the interaction of His Highness Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, with the people of Sharjah through Direct Line, a live radio show that is simultaneously broadcasted on Sharjah TV. Moderated by Hasan Yacob and coordinated by Faisal Abdul-Hadi, the session will feature Ahmed Salem Bosamnoh, Board Member, Sharjah Media Corporation, Jamal Al Bah, Chairman, Arab Family Organization, Mohammed Khalaf, Director, Sharjah Radio, and Dr. Jasim Khalfan, a National Activist. Sheikh Sultan said: ‘His Highness Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi is keen to listen to the programme to identify the concerns of his people. He regards it as a platform to reach out and connect with his citizens and immediately resolve their issues. His approach has contributed to the eradication of many problems, and influenced the lives of nationals residing in Sharjah positively.’ As part of his priority to addressing humanitarian concerns, His Highness Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi is equally interested in following the radio and TV programmes broadcasted by other channels that tackle community problems, as this will motivate media institutions to stay on top of their research activities and identify topics for discussion that spotlight societal concerns.’ The participants will examine the experiences of individuals who have interacted with His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah. Presenters of the show will also share their experience in communicating with His Highness Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. In addition to highlighting the outcomes of the initiative, the segment will seek to evaluate their impact on the lives of callers to the radio programme.
