The Thai Broadcast Journalists Association has organized an event to discuss the role of the ASEAN media on entry into the Asean Economic Communtiy (AEC) in 2015. The event will coincide with the association’s 2012 meeting, and will be a forum for expressing opinions regarding the direction and roles of the media in ASEAN nations. The event will be held at the Swissotel Le Concorde. Speaking at the event will be prominent figures of both Thai and foreign media, such as Mr. Thepchai Yong, managing director of Thai PBS; Dr. Prawit Leesatapornwongsa, member of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, and Mr. Piphop Panichpak, independent journalist. Mr. Thepchai, Thai PBS managing director, stated upon entry into the AEC, the Thai media should work in an informed manner to present news that covers all angles, especially from citizens’ perspectives. Most of the news on entering the AEC has focused on the government, such as diplomatic relations. From centerweb
