Cairo Criminal Court postponed to October 23 the trial session of former head of the Central Auditing Organization (CAO) Hisham Geneina and three journalists over charges of slandering former justice minister Ahmed El Zend.
The postponement came to inform Geneina and journalist Ibrahim Mansour that they have to attend the trial sessions.
Geneina and the three journalists; Hoda Abo Bakr, Ismail el Wasemi and Ibrahim Mansour were referred to the Criminal Court over charges of libeling El Zend, spreading false news about the judicial authority and insulting the State institutions.
In August, 2015, Geneina gave statements to El Tahrir newspaper, claiming that Zend squandered public funds by selling a piece of land owned by the judges club in Port Said to one of his wife’s relatives.
