Ramallah - WAFA

The three Palestinian Arabic dailies said on Wednesday that a Palestinian wounded on Monday by Israeli gunfire in the north of the Gaza Strip has died. He was identified as Saddam Abu Shalash, 27, from Jabaliya refugee camp near Gaza City.

Al-Ayyam daily, which made this topic as its main front page story, also said seven Palestinians were wounded when Israeli forces opened fire at hundreds of people who gathered near the border fence with Israel in the central Gaza Strip.

The three papers also reported on Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank including developments at Khan al-Ahmar village, east of Jerusalem, where bulldozers continued to level land near it, an army raid on a house in Bidya in the north of the West Bank that belongs to the family of a Palestinian shot and killed by Israeli forces earlier in the week after he allegedly attempted to stab an Israeli soldier, settlers inaugurating a biblical park in the heart of Hebron and orders to stop construction in an area west of Bethlehem.

In other news, al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted as its main front page story that went across the page the United Nations General Assembly vote in favor of a resolution that empowered the State of Palestine with the rights and capacity required to be able to perform as the Chair of G77 in the General Assembly, to which it was elected in September.

Al-Quds, meanwhile, highlighted as its main front page story developments regarding the fate of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi who went missing after entering the Saudi Arabia consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago.

It said in other news that an American research found out that polluted water in Gaza is the main cause for death among children and a quarter of the diseases.

Al-Ayyam said the Australian prime minister has slowed down plans to move his country’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem following internal and external criticism.

It said Palestinian writers won two prizes in a cultural event in Qatar.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted the Palestinian cabinet saying that neglecting the Palestinian Government as the only official authority when providing aid and implementing projects in the Gaza Strip will only increase the suffering of the Strip instead of solving its problem.

It said Palestinian prisoners at Ofer military camp near Ramallah plan to escalate their protests against the prison administration’s measures.
