Katy Perry will perform at the half-time show for American football's Super Bowl championship, one of the nation's most watched TV spectacles, Billboard reported Friday.
The music industry Bible, gave no details about the planned event, but according to a Wall Street Journal report in August, pop diva Perry had been on a shortlist of potential Super Bowl performers that also included Coldplay and Rihanna.
The game will be played in Phoenix, Arizona on February 1, 2015 to crown the champions of America's best beloved sport.
Representatives for Perry and the National Football League did not return email requests for comment.
The last Super Bowl halftime extravaganza, which featured Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, drew a record 111.5 million TV viewers.
So coveted is the marquee gig that the NFL -- one of the world's richest pro sports organizations -- reportedly considered asking this year's act to pay for the privilege.
Perry has poured cold water on that idea, telling ESPN sports television channel last weekend: "I'm not the kind of girl that would pay to play the Super Bowl."
Perry, who turns 30 on October 25, is known as much for her flamboyant costumes as she is for a raft of hits including "California Gurls," "Dark Horse," "Firework," "Part of Me" and "Roar."
