The My TV entertainment and lifestyle pay-TV platform has been awarded a content distribution license by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe. Through a decoder, smart card and monthly subscription, Lebanon-based My TV provides channels such as BBC World News, Al Jazeera, kids.co, Trace, Fine Living Network, True Movies, Fox Entertainment, My TV Movies, Setanta and Movie Africa. In addition, My TV holds rights to show German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga and UEFA European football matches, according to The Herald. The My TV decoder and start up pack is now available in Zimbabwe for US$80, with an 18-channel package priced at $22 per month, reports the newspaper. This latest pay-TV package is seen as a lower cost alternative to the digital offering from satellite platform DStv, and comes ahead of the loss of the South African free to air channels SABC 1, 2 and 3 in neighbouring Zimbabwe later this month.
