Asala Party chief Ihab Shiha has criticised political satire television host Bassem Youssef for “insulting” the Prophet Muhammed. Shiha claimed the popular host discussed the Prophet in “inappropriate and insulting” terms, urging Egyptians to file complaints with the country’s attorney general. “This is his [Youssef’s] second attempt at tarnishing our religion by distorting our symbols and now distorting the prophet of Islam,” Shiha said in a Facebook post on Saturday. Youssef has faced a spate of unsuccessful legal challenges for allegedly insulting Islam and Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.
