Global Internet Exchange (GIX), allowing a direct interconnection between the Algerian access providers without passing through foreign networks, will be operational in the beginning of 2015, announced Saturday in Algiers Minister of Post and Information and Communication Technologies Zohra Derdouri.
“GIX is ready. The training in this field was carried out and we hope for the effective launch of this technology in the beginning of 2015,” said Derdouri in an interview with APS.
She underlined that the specifications, which are also ready, concern all the operators ensuring internet service like those of the mobile telephony (Mobilis, Ooredoo and Djezzy), the landline telephony (Algerie Telecom) and the internet service providers.
