Indian intelligence agencies have discovered three new pro-ISIL Twitter accounts, following the recent arrest of a 24-year-old man, who managed an influential ISIL propaganda Twitter from Southern India's Bangalore, sources in the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs said on Sunday.
According to the sources, all the three Twitter accounts are being operated from the Western Indian state of Maharashtra, RIA Novosti reported.
However, the sources did not disclose details such as the names of the individuals and the Twitter accounts due to security reasons.
On Saturday, Indian police arrested a man called Mehdi Masroor Biswas, 24, for running a pro-ISIL "ShamiWitness" Twitter account. The account had over 17,000 followers, two-thirds of whom were ISIL fighters in Iraq and Syria, according to the Hindustan Times. With over two million views, ShamiWitness was believed to be one of the most influential ISIL Twitter accounts to date.
Biswas reportedly used Twitter to recruit potential ISIL fighters and advice them on how to cross into Syria from Turkey. The man now faces a life imprisonment in India for spreading the terrorist ideology.
The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control parts of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Ezadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.
Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.
The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
The extremists actively uses social media for recruiting new members from around the globe. According to the latest UN estimates, some 15,000 foreign fighters have entered Syria and Iraq to join the ISIL or other terrorist groups.
