Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, on Tuesday launched the Digital Flag campaign, a new initiative to gather up to two million signatures on a special website, www.uaeflag.ae, by 5 December when the UAE will have concluded its National Day celebrations.
Sheikh Nahyan also launched a hashtag campaign ( #uae_flag- #علم_الامارات ) on the Ministry's account on the microblogging site, twitter, to mark the U.A.E. Flag Day.
Minister Nahyan noted that the campaign and the hashtag will give citizens and residents of the U.A.E. to express their love for the U.A.E. and its national flag.
The U.A.E. Flag Day, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development in collaboration with several governmental and private institutions and bodies in the state, is being marked this year under the slogan ‘Raise it High ... Raise it Proud'.
The Flag Day celebrations coincide with the 10th anniversary of the accession of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to presidency.
The Vice President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, last year, declared 3 November as Flag Day.
