Manama - BNA

The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) decided to resume broadcasting BRTV channels on the (Arab Communications Satellite) ARABSAT Corporation starting from today (Thursday February 7, 2013), which reflects the deep-rooted solid historic mutual cooperation relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and ARABSAT within the Arab League. This came when Minister of State for Information Affairs cum Government's official spokesperson, Her Excellency Samira bin Rajab, received in her office in the IAA premises a delegation led by ARABSAT board chairman Mr. Fareed Yusuf Khashoggi, CEO engineer Khalid Ahmed Bal-Khyoor, VP for Sales and Marketing engineer Nabil Al-Shantti and PR and media director Saad Fayez Al-Tohaif. The Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed her appreciation for their visit intended to boost mutual cooperation and understanding between the IAA and ARABSAT since 1976. The two sides accentuated the significance of boosting bilateral cooperation to serve mutual interest as part of achieving the objectives of the Arab League Charter, the Arab Media Ethics Charter and the principles which organize radio and TV transmission and reception in order to safeguard Arab identity and civilization and ensure credibility and subjectivism of media content and ensure security and stability of Arab countries and support their developmental and democratic accomplishments. ARABSAT board chairman, Mr. Fareed Khashoggi, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Minister of State for Information Affairs for the good reception and for her keenness on boosting mutual cooperation. Mr. Fareed Khashoggi presented a commemorative gift to Her Excellency the Minister, wishing her success in developing various instruments and channels of the Kingdom's media commensurate with the reformative and urbane project initiated by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Both sides agreed during the meeting to continue to uplift the radio and TV services and ARABSAT telecommunications up to highest international technical and professional standards and to boost its competitive edge and expand it geographically now that the Kingdom of Bahrain and other sisterly GCC countries as co-founders of ARABSAT are the largest shareholders at 66% of ARABSAT's capital.
