Michelle Gomez will reprise Missy on Doctor Who.
The 48-year-old actress first portrayed the character on season eight of the BBC series, and will return for the first two episodes of season nine. Missy is a female incarnation of the villainous Master, a rebel Time Lord and archenemy to the Doctor (Peter Capaldi).
Gomez announced the news in a video Thursday on Twitter, and told the BBC, "Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I'm delighted to be putting my Lippie back on. I'm positively dying to see the doctor again!"
"Everybody hide," executive producer Steven Moffat joked. "Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she's straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara [Jenna Coleman] in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they'd expect."
Doctor Who has been a staple for the network since its original premiere in 1963. The sci-fi drama ran for 26 consecutive seasons, and was revived in 2005. Capaldi debuted as the Twelfth Doctor in season eight, and Coleman was confirmed to return as companion Clara in December 2014.
