Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma had a meeting with the President Andris Berzins to discuss additional financing for teachers salaries in reaction to the recent teachers' protests. In her interview with the press, Straujuma regretted to say that the financing is not possible to find at the moment, LETA reported. Straujuma noted that the Ministry of Education and Science will present the plan on May 31 regarding possibilities to increase teachers' salaries. Latvian president Andris Berzins added that Latvian next year's budget revenue is predicted to be higher that the pre-crisis level, which will be in hands of the politicians that will come to power after this year's elections. More than 5,000 teachers went on protest march this Monday. Protesters warned about the possible strike should the cooperation with government fails.
