The Ministry of Education's undersecretary for Curricula Affairs Dr. Abdullah Yusuf Al-Mutawa chaired today in Tunisia a meeting of the Executive Board of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). In his speech, Al-Mutawa emphasized the national and pan-Arab dimensions for the development of curricula and urged the Organization to initiate programs far from conventional, routine curricula which include all Arab countries. During the meeting, several topics were discussed pertaining to Arab cooperation in the field of education, including a plan to develop education in the Arab world, a project for supporting the Arabic language, improving the quality of education. The meeting also discussed the educational and cultural situation in Palestine especially in Al-Quds in addition to reviewing the new budget for the organization. During its session, the Executive Board discussed the applications requests submitted from the Arab countries to occupy vacancies in the organization and decided to defer action on the applications in order to satisfy recruitment criteria such as the inerview, academic qualifications, etc. The Ministry of Education's undersecretary discussed with ALECSO's Director-General Dr. Mohamed El Aziz Ashoor a number of issues, including the budget for the organization, recruitment of heritage experts and for management positions in the organization in accordance with job specifications.
