Regulations on school bus safety go public

A draft regulation on school bus safety management was made public by China’s State Council on Sunday. And the public are invited to comment. The regulations require governments above county level to take "overall" responsibility for school bus safety. Stringent standards are set for the operation and purchase of vehicles. Bus drivers are required to renew their safety qualifications every six month, and the standards are high. Preferential financial support and tax cuts will go to rural areas, where students have to spend much time on commuting.
