The oath-taking ceremony for student council members (2011-2012) at Pakistan International School Jeddah (English Section) took place in the school auditorium on Saturday. PISJ-ES Principal Sehar Kamran welcomed distinguished guests including Consul Qamar Siddique Raja. Kamran explained to the audience the aims and objectives of the student council. “It is the process of involving students in meaningful ways both in and beyond the classroom, with an objective to provide them with the podium where they can exercise and exhibit their abilities. They can demonstrate their talents, skills and interests in an organized manner,” she said. Kamran congratulated all elected council members and class prefects. The presidents and vice presidents of the student council shared their thoughts with fellow students. The president for girls Mashael Kamran said she would make a real effort to work for her fellow students. She said this school year would be the best in the history of PISJ. She said success lies behind every door; it just needs the right key to open it. The president for boys Hassan Iftikhar said no voice and opinion would be ignored. He said that he welcomed every student’s idea and support so that they could achieve better levels of success. The program also included performances from the students. Y1-2 students performed “You are my Sunshine.” Y6 and Y7 students performed Jugni, followed by a live performance by Wania Jibran and a documentary on the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
