A Florida reading teacher was suspended for allegedly calling a Haitian student a "little chocolate boy" and a "chocolate that nobody wanted," officials said. Leslie Rainer, 46, who works at Blanche Ely High in Pompano Beach, Fla, was suspended for 10 days without pay by the Broward County School Board, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday. Rainer denied making the remarks but a district spokeswoman said a student in her classroom had videotaped the outburst. "It appears very clear in the video, with the anger and the tone, that it was directed to a student," said Gracie Diaz, head of human resources. District officials said Rainer has been spoken to previously about her remarks to minority students including a case where she reportedly told a student that she wished "they would put you in a boat and send you back where you came from."
