Muscat - Arabstoday

A charity auction showcasing artwork produced by The Sultan’s School students and local artists has raised approximately RO 5,000 for The Disabled Child Care Centre based in Muscat. The pieces, created by students in grades 2 to 12, as well as pieces generously donated by teachers, parents and local artists including paintings by Saud al Hunaini, Hassan Meer and Jenni Eden and a beautiful mosaic made of Italian glass and gold leaf gifted by Suad al Aufy, ensured there were a great variety of items on show. Heather Ford, Primary art teacher, said, “The high calibre of work produced by students of all ages at the school is both pleasing and encouraging to me as a teacher, but also as a resident in Muscat. Judging by the quality on show at this auction, I am confident that there are future artists in this group and they will be showing their work at various galleries in Oman in years to come.” She added, “Developing a sense of community is one of the greatest lessons students learn at the school. It emphasises the 1335092155029793100 value of contributing to the wider world and the honour of giving yourself to help others.” The recently held art auction is one of the many ways The Sultan’s School contributes back to the community. Primary and Secondary school students participate in community projects to make a difference both inside and outside of school. The projects vary by age group and range from fund-raising activities to volunteer work. Founded in 1977, The Sultan’s School has firmly established itself as a world-class academic institution that offers a holistic education with an international perspective while honouring Omani and Islamic values. The school is committed to providing a balanced and nurturing environment to unlock students’ greatest potential and become the leaders of tomorrow.
