At least five Palestinians were injured after a group of settlers attacked a secondary school for boys in the West Bank, local sources and official Palestinian news agency WAFA said on Wednesday.
Dozens of settlers from the nearby Israeli settlement of Yitshar attacked the school in the village of Urif to the south of Nablus with stones, provoking villagers and stirring up clashes, according to report.
Head of Urif village council, Mazen Shehadeh, said the settlers were backed by Israeli army, adding that Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters towards residents and their homes.
He added that at least five people were injured, two of whom are in critical condition. Two people sustained head injuries after being struck in the head with stones, while another resident was injured after being shot by live fire.
Dozens of others suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.
Shehadeh said the school was evacuated after the attack, and the Israeli army did not do anything to stop the settlers.
