Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi has affirmed the Ministry's keenness on building values, and consolidating human rights in school curricula and activities so as to promote school life as a healthy environment for boosting love, unity, peace and cooperation, in line with the Constitution, the National Charter, international conventions, Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN's Decade for Human Rights Education.
He was speaking as attended at the Shaikh Khalifa Institute of Technology's Excellence Centre part of the informative meeting of the Directors and Coordinators of the UNESCO-Associated Schools.
During the meeting, attended by 60 coordinators from public and private schools, the Minister lauded the great success of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet), and its key role in encouraging students to contact their peers around the world in order to benefit from their experiences and project the kingdom's experienced in activating UNESCO principles in the educational process, which helps students acquire skills in the fields of creativity, problem-solving, communication and Information Technology.
ASPnet-Bahrain Chairwoman Kefaya Al-Anzoor said that the project aims to consolidate values of peace, love and belonging among youth, lauding the joining of 20 new schools of the project this year, which raises the number of UNESCO-Associated Schools in Bahrain to 60, including 48 government schools and 12 private ones.
She pointed out that the ASPnet Strategy 2014-2021 was launched under the theme "Global Network of Schools addressing Global Challenges: Building Global Citizenship and promoting Sustainable Development".
Then, the Minister of Education honoured the outstanding coordinators from public and private schools.
