Meeting
Manama - BNA

A survey is to be conducted in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to assess technical and vocational education in Bahrain. Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi today received a group of UNESCO experts who will help draw up development programmes and contribute to the evaluative study.
The move is in line with ministry's drive to benefit from the expertise of the Paris-based UN agency, which is considered as a key partner in developing technical education and promoting training programmes and schemes in Bahrain.
Dr. Al-Nuaimi affirmed the ministry's resolve to continue implementing the project of technical and vocational tracks so as to meet the goals of the national educational and training scheme and meet the ever-changing labour market trends and needs.
The minister briefed the UNESCO team of experts on the reality of technical and vocational education in Bahrain. He pointed out that many countries adopted the technical education pilot project which was drawn up by Bahrain in cooperation with the UNESCO experts. He briefed the UNESCO specialists on the in-house training schemes which allow thousands of students to obtain on-site training every year in public and private institutions.
