National Education Minister Nouria Benghebrit declared Monday in Algiers that the main stake of her sector for next school year is "raising the Baccalaureate success rate."
"While the results of the primary and secondary year-end exams are good, those of Baccalaureate (45.01%) are far of being satisfactory," Benghebrit told the national radio.
About the reasons for decreasing results, the minister mentioned "the schooling conditions in many regions, a failed training of teacher and instability in the education system," she said.
"The Ministry of Education shall, within the framework of the national strategy for education development, to promote the training of teachers including new graduates," said Benghebrit announcing "the recruitment of 24,000 new teachers in the coming year school".
Benghebrit referred to the national conference on Education scheduled for July 20 and 21, during which "reforms will be assessed and curricula revised," saying that "the process of educational reform, launched in 2003, was implemented without coordination or consistency."
