Housing Minister Mostafa Madbouli had agreed to increase the maximum lot coverage of public schools from 30 to 35%, Education Minister Moheb el Rafei said.
The decision was taken after the education minister had sent a letter to the housing minister due to the New Urban Communities Authority’s (NUCA) rejection of expansion works at a public school in Obour City, Qalubiya, due to the lot coverage rule.
NUCA had refused to allow the expansion of buildings at Omar Ibn El Khattab Experimental School as they exceed the allowed 30% lot coverage by 1.35%. The housing minister gave instructions to exempt the project from the set ratio.
