#USEgyptHEI scholarship awardees celebrated their upcoming departure for the United States at a ceremony hosted last night by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and the Ministry of Education, honoring their accomplishments.
#STEM scholar Yara Hazem sees the scholarship bringing a bright future for herself and her community in Egypt: “I chose to major in artificial intelligence and I hope that I could come back to Egypt and bring back the knowledge I learned and become a pioneer in this field. Maybe I’ll be the founder of the first corporation that manufactures robots in Egypt.”
MBA scholar Mary Adel believes the experience will change her life: “I’m sure that after the HEI MBA scholarship, I will not walk out as the same person that walked in. It’s an opportunity to get a competitive degree, to further our studies, and to collaborate with different people from different cultures and to show the power of our dreams - the dreams of Egyptian women that are working hard to make a difference to their country."
Starting in 2014, hundreds of local scholarships will provide an opportunity for economically disadvantaged public school graduates to attend Egyptian universities.
These students will receive undergraduate scholarships in fields demanded by the local economy – including science, engineering, and business administration. Eligible degree programs are those taught in English at either high-quality private universities or fee-based programs at public universities. Scholarship recipients will also have the opportunity to study or intern in the United States.
