Dr. Salma Al Harasiya, Consultant of Genetic Labs, Head of Labs Departments at the National Genetic Centre at the Royal Hospital has conducted the first study on Down Syndrome in the Sultanate.
She published the outcomes of the study in a research-book, which is the first of its kind in the Sultanate. The book highlights the reasons, the prevalence rates and the possible risk factors for Down Syndrome in the Sultanate.
The book, which studied Down Syndrome cases in the Sultanate, highlights the genetic or hereditary reasons for such cases.
The book was published by Scholars Publishing House. It was distributed in more than 40 countries round the world.
The book provides in depth analysis for Down Syndrome cases in the Sultanate. It highlights the reasons, the risk factors, the diagnostic methods and preventive measures to control the syndrome.
