Oman’s Ministry of Education has revealed that a hacker breached its Education Portal homepage on Wednesday morning.
In a statement, the ministry warned that it will take “all possible legal action against all who are involved” in the hack.
Social media in Oman is buzzing after the hack, believed to have been committed by a student
in the Sultanate, who posted messages to education bosses.
The ministry’s statement said: “The Ministry of Education would like to report that on Wednesday an internet hacker had breached the Oman Education Portal home page. The Ministry would like to assure the public that the Education Portal is working normally, as it is currently dealing with the breach in every technical aspect.”
“The Ministry promises its audience that it will work as fast as possible to handle the consequences of this impermissible act, and solve all that has been affected so that things go back to normal on the Portal.”
“The Ministry would also like to confirm that it will take all possible legal action against all who are involved in this assault on its electronic systems, in accordance with the Law for Combating Cybercrime and the Electronic Transactions Law.”
